Black Velvet + Silver Filigree

by angeliska on May 21, 2009

I got a new hat today.

– velvet + silver filigree hat from Uncommon Objects
– metal twig earrings from Parts + Labor
– antler lady necklace, gift from Mlle. Verhext, made by Element Lux
– watch chains necklace from Lux Revival
– gold vest from Goodie Two Shoes
– disco top, thrifted
– grey jeans, thrifted
– black cowboy boots, Uncommon Objects
Just realized this outfit is nearly 100% found
(& photographed) on South Congress! Haha.

Photos by Don Weir.
We had fun trying to work with the strange light.
This one’s so pinky! I like it.
My hair is driving me very bonkers lately,
hence the hats, various head-scarves, mantillas, etc.
Getting a bit hot for all that though.
Very tempted to shave half my head.
Not to succumb to all the 1990’s hoo-ha,
but I’ve been feelin’ the urge to reach for
the clippers lately. A drastic change
that I will try to resist, as I know I’d be sick
of it quickly- but I like the idea of keeping
my long hair, and not. Best of both worlds?
Probably not, but I sure do like it on these ladies:

Naughty Miss Alice Dellal

The lovely Cassie.
Y’all talk me out of it now, okay?
Thanks in advance.

I am so happy I stayed up late, because to see that hat, and all those half-shaved heads, made me very happy … which will bring me good dreams! Thanks!! And I always did love that half-shaved Cyndi Lauper look … oops! I’m supposed to be discouraging you … 🙂

Noooooo! Don’t do it! I just got my haircut yesterday – a little shorter than I expected but was ready since I was getting a “almost free” haircut from a beautician school graduate. With the guidance of the superviser and 1 1/2 later, I got one of the best cuts I’ve ever had. Visible Changes in Highland Mall is continuing these $10 haircuts. Ask to be Kelsey’s model next Tuesday or Wednesday.

I meant to say 1 1/2 HOURS later! Haircuts between 9 am and 3 pm on Tues-Wed, Visible Changes.

I cut my friend Eric’s hair in the My Little Pony mohawk a few weeks ago and it looks charming on him. Just sayin’ that I can help!

Marvellous hat. Gorgeous you !
I had a haircut that was quite similar as these for a few years and I LOVED it. I had a bob and the bottom half of my skull underneath was shaved.
But I had a hard time to grow it … That was the tricky part !

Don’t do this, instead treat yourself to an intense hot oil treatment or hair mask and an expensive daily conditioner…..And since it’s summer, wet that hair down before you fix it up…this way it will stay wet most of the day and act as an air conditioner for your lil’ cute head 🙂 oooo, also I have an awesome trick that I use when I’m farming/landscaping, get a wide brimmed straw hat (preferably one that is sewn together, not weaved) and hose it down good then stick on your noggin, shade and air conditioning, purrrfect. Also, cut a couple inches off your hair so it will look fresh and smooth…… heed my advice or you will regret such tomfoolery for a long long time.

i LOVE that haircut! but shaving your head halfway…it would take so long to grow back! being someone who is finally growing out short, shaved hair, it takes so long…why is there not a button to push that will make it just grow so that we can shave, grow, shave, grow…i need to get my inventing hat on…

You are already a magical looking creature with unique beauty, without further efforts having to be made.
I must say, that is the most stunning hat, earrings, and necklace combination and of course with your fabulous face…what a beautiful fashion photo. Those eyes..they cannot conceal your magic within!

I truly think you could pull it off…..but sometimes half the fun is in the fantasy.
